North Bound

Ha! I finally have my own little voice on our blog now. I am congratulating myself on my first post! Here's a few quick pics of our weekend up in Vancouver two weeks ago. We had a great sunset dinner by the beach with Joanne Saturday night in Whiterock and a fabulous brunch with Auntie Marlene and Uncle Elmer on Sunday. It's always nice to have such a relaxing place to go to and such fun family to eat with!

Taking another plunge...

...a plunge of a different kind. I think marrying a girl like Brenda is much easier than jumping off a bridge to your potential watery grave. This happened the weekend following the bachelor party at whistler, I've just been procrastinating getting these pictures up. Congratulations to Josh and Brenda. It was beautiful fall wedding that I'm sure neither of them will forget. We were honored to be there.

Taking the Plunge

Good bye, Josh

Some of my friends jumped off a bridge two weeks ago. Josh was one of them. Last weekend he took the plunge, that is, he got married. The weekend before that we couldn't imagine any other way to send him out of bachelor-hood than by throwing him off a bridge. Well...I guess he threw himself...but barely. ;) Here's to you Josh! My excuse for not jumping was the lack of funds, (sure thing Royden). But that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I vow to one day return, strap a blue cord to my chest and race a penny to the glaciel river.

We did other stuff while we were in Whistler that weekend...

Good times boys. A-patt knows how to throw a bachelor party. Good job fire-person!

A Lack of Labour

Ya that's about what it amounted to. We didn't do a heck of a lot this last weekend. We went for a bike ride on Sunday in the pouring rain. We had planned to go riding off the I-90 on Monday, but our shoes were still sopping wet from the day before. So we called up our 'ol buddy Mark.

That's Mark. He leads our Community group every week and also lives a stones throw from our apartment. So we invited Mark to go on a hike up to twin falls. We had a good time. I had a moment out there in the river and decided to get in touch with my inner lion by performing some standing yoga on a rock...

After which, Mark responded with...

Thank you Mark. I regained my composure and we completed the hike without incident. The falls were gorgeous.

How do you spell cold you ask? Check out these rascals we spotted...

Good times. Praise the God for good friends and beautiful place to live. Thanks for snapping this for us Mark.

Labourful Labour day

Ruth and I are just beginning our labour day weekend. Our plans so far are to go for coffee. Maybe we'll get some ideas about what to do this weekend while we're sipping espresso. Just to let you all know, I'll be 'teaching' Ruth how to post soon (it's as easy as sending an email). And then you can hear from more than just me. She's usually got more to say anyways.

;)

For now, a couple pictures of my cowboy brother.

weekend cooking

Yesterday Ruth and I cooked salmon on the bbq. Didn't know if that was possible but it was. Green beans on the stove, all the while sipping Canadian microbrew in the US of A. yummy.

Astoria

Our friends Bill and Addie recently invited us on a trip to visit Addie's parents in Astoria for the weekend. Astoria was the focus of Hollywood for a few years. The Goonies was shot there, as well as Kindergarten Cop and a couple fo other movies I haven't seen. It's about a three hour drive to Astoria from Seattle. However, Addie's Dad, Phil, Happens to own his own four seater Piper Cherokee. He offered to fly up to Paine field and pick us up. That was a lot of fun. We got some great pictures. Addie went down to her parents earlier in the week so it was just Ruth and Phil and Bill and I. Bill and I have the same camera and were snapping pics like a couple 'o shutter bugs all weekend. We look like a couple of full fledged tourists walking through the Sunday market in downtown Astoria with our Rebel's slung over our shoulder. Oh well. We had fun. Addie's parents were great hosts. We went to the beach on Saturday, we sat in the hottub. We went to the market on Sunday and then sat around Bill and Addie's new inflatable pool that their six month old daughter, Caley, enjoyed. All of that was interspersed with amazing meals. yum. Good times were had. Praise God for taking care of all of our needs, as well as things we don't need but truly enjoy. Thanks again to the Gerlach's and their parents.

Moving on

Some of our close friends here in Seattle all decided to up and leave at the same time. It was sad today. And it's really odd to experience this sadness as an adult. Kids know what it's like to go through change but it's really different to hear a full grown adult blubber the words "don't go". Not that anyone did that today. We helped Travis and Leslie pack there stuff and head out of dodge, Moving east to avoid this depressing housing market. We, on the other hand, our determind to stay here and be depressed.

Greg and Andrea also left town this past week. Greg was promoted all the way to Virginia. Hard to turn down career advancement when there's really nothing holding you back. Right before they left they found out they were pregnant so that was pretty cool. They are going away to start a new life. Or just adding life I suppose. We're goin to miss them too. I had a lot of laughs with Greg.

And we had a lot of good times with Travis Leslie too. That's one of the nicest things about God's promises..no goodbyes are final.

3John1:14 I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings.

Seeya guys later!
I just realized that you have to have an account to view our pictures in the pictures link over there. d'oh. I'm trying to find a site that doesn't require an acount for picture sharing, but that also doesn't add steve miller music and camera moves when you go to view the slideshow. Let me know if any of you have any suggestions.

Until then..a few random pics...

Happy fourth of July eh?!
